Sustainable climate and building technology: Smart system integration from GEZE at the ISH trade fair in Frankfurt/Main

Sustainable air-conditioning and building technology and intelligent living are the trends of the day. From 11 to 15 March 2019, it was all about innovative building solutions at the ISH trade fair in Frankfurt. Right in the middle of it: The GEZE Cockpit building automation system with BACnet and KNX interface modules. What does this have to do with sustainability? Windows and doors that adapt to user behaviour, climate and weather not only increase comfort and safety, but also help to save energy - and thus contribute to climate protection.

Future-oriented topics at ISH: sustainability and energy efficiency

A total of 2,532 exhibitors from 57 countries and around 190,000 visitors: ISH in Frankfurt/Main is considered the world’s leading trade fair for future-oriented building technology and HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning). The focus for 2019 is clear: responsible and resource-conserving use of water and energy in buildings.

That is small wonder, because climate protection and the conservation of our natural resources are everyone’s concern – and have also played an increasingly important role in building technology since the EU’s climate goals were established. Making buildings more energy efficient and optimising energy consumption is essential for architects, planners, operators and end-users alike.

But design, comfort and safety must not be neglected in building technology either. And that is where smart solutions come in: GEZE is one of the world’s leading providers of system solutions and service for doors and windows. Innovative solutions combine functionality, safety, comfort and design – helping to make buildings more energy efficient, conserving natural resources and reducing CO2 emissions.

Smart and energy efficient: GEZE systems for building automation

GEZE Cockpit shows how energy efficiency in buildings can be combined with smart technology for more comfort and safety: thanks to BACnet integration in building control systems, the innovative building automation system for smart door, window and safety technology offers simple networking as well as central, user-friendly control of all components via an app. What makes it special is that the building technology that is automated and networked with GEZE Cockpit adapts dynamically to current user behaviour as well as to environmental conditions such as temperature and weather. This makes buildings safer, more comfortable and more energy efficient.

More about GEZE Cockpit

Smart solution: the advantages of GEZE Cockpit at a glance

  • mobile operation from tablet or PC thanks to a browser-based system with a modular and flexible authorisation concept
  • ease of use thanks to intuitive set-up and configuration of the interface
  • all components at a glance thanks to graphic visualisation of the device status and operation
  • scene control for controlling several devices simultaneously
  • time-controlled automatic triggering of scenes
  • traceability of events thanks to Event Log
  • insertion of devices on a building floor plan
  • simple connection of emergency exit control units, automatic doors, smoke and heat exhaust ventilation flaps and automatic window drives thanks to BACnet and KNX technology

Advantages of smart building technology in practice

Smart building technology has a distinct advantage over manual operation of windows, doors, heaters and air conditioning systems – unlike humans, smart systems respond reliably to different programmable scenarios. For example, GEZE Cockpit makes it possible to regulate the opening width of a door in order to provide accessibility or greater ease of access. In addition, smart sensor technology increases energy efficiency, for example by automatically adjusting the opening and closing of windows and doors to variations in the outside temperature and weather. In this way, energy costs can be saved and natural resources conserved – in times of climate change and the EU Climate Agreement this is more important than ever.

Reliable planning and easy system integration

At GEZE, you get everything from one source: from the smart products to the connection to the service.

Planners and system integrators will be glad to know that GEZE Cockpit can either be used as an independent building management system or integrated into a higher-level building automation system. That is because GEZE Cockpit communicates via the BACnet interface IO 420. In addition, new components and extensions are easily integrated into the building automation system and conveniently operated from a tablet or computer.
